Dear Solomon, while I appreciate your attempts to statistically predict the opportunities, I would like to point out that it's not correct to calculate the OC% based on % of OC candidates available in the sample. OC is open to everyone in the sample based on the cut off, not allotted for OC community!
ReplyDeleteIn that sense there will be no surplus for OC. So the 1114 will be filled up first from the top cutoff candidates from all communities. So we can expect majority of the 860 candidates leftover (BC:676+MBC:160) to fill up this, as their average cutoff is comparatively higher than other communities.
I'm not sure incase of insufficient candidates for BCM reservation, whether it can be filled by BC. If yes, there are chances for another say 40-50people.
Anyway, you're correct about the 3592 lucky and 2537 unlucky. Congrats for the 3592 and all the best to the 2537 for their further endeavors.

DeleteDear Solomon, I think I did not make myself clear. I completely understand your logic behind 'ratio based extrapolation' of the 419 available data to the bigger population.
DeletePlease do not deduct 138 from 1114 for OC. That's my point. You can place all the 1114 under variation for OC, if you want. It will be more accurate than now.
By the way I noticed many duplicates in the raw data. Did you remove them from your calculation? Thanks for the efforts!!

DeleteWhile preparing, the data, file showed 510 Plus. After deleting duplication, only 419 data were consideration for accountability.
Right my dear, I accept your view that all the 138 OC would not get the placement. Because highest mark those who scored from other categories also will be a hectic competent to OC candidates. Thank you.

DeleteI am not a prophesy. I am not able to foretell the weightage. As I am little bit interested in Maths, I use to give some assumption in a Statistics method. That is all my dear friends.
My humble suggestion to all.
We have to wait as long as TRB will disclose the Weightage cut off marks. Till TRB concurrence, don't believe any news regarding cut off marks.

Dear Amali Smile, let me point out something.
DeleteRound off must happen, in one way or the other. How many digits are rounded off is the question. TRB has rounded off to two digits.
If a person scores 778 marks in HSC, if you divide it by 1200, the result is 64.833333333333333333333.....%. The 3s will be never ending. So please understand it is a MUST to round off. To me TRB's round off at 2 digits is fair.
The case you highlighted, 35.59 is also similarly rounded off to 35.6. This is not because TRB is inconsistent. This is because 59.33*0.6=35.598. When this is rounded off to two digits, it becomes 35.6
I do not see any logical problems here. If you want to argue something, you can argue for TRB to round off 3 digits so that the above case would remain as 35.598
Hope this helps for better understanding.
